 Making choices
My reflection of GE2015

This election, we see all constituencies contested. Many opposition parties and independent candidates began their concerted firing at the ruling party with criticisms at policies which they deemed are unfair, inadequate or disturbing. They began the days of rallies with the intention to construct this imagery of a nation in a state of topsy turvy where everything and anything has gone absurdly wrong. How did they come up with this dystopian view of a supposedly first world nation? That's simple. In a complain society like Singapore where people tend to think of failures as something caused by others and not themselves, you can easily put together all the trivial day-to-day unhappiness of different Singaporeans into a consolidated speech to rally their support. Any rational being would not believe that life as a Singaporean is that bad as they put it. This proves a point that one simply cannot piece life problems together and make conclusion about the policies and the government. Most would know that policies are in itself an imperfect tool, because it can never benefit everyone equally. It should in its ideal state, benefit the majority and help given to those minority who are left out. In this sense, I believe the ruling party has done what it could do in its capability.

I do not believe that politicians are altruistic in running the nation and taking care of its people. There aren't that many saints to begin with. As long as one has the requisite integrity and morals to lead the country for progress and prosperity, overcome challenges faced all over the world, and leave no men behind, then i think he/she earns my vote.

The opposition are not ready by their unsound policies and unprofessionalism in their tactics. The results are indicative that the people, regardless of their unhappiness in different aspects of life, know that ultimately the ruling party is the one to propel the country towards SG100. Until the day when a strong opposition pitches a strong alternative without trivialising matters or jeopardising the health and achievements made as a nation...

My two cents.
