My love for strawberries is unbelievable. Definitely my weakness.
A strawberry a day keeps the evil away.
Evil
It's hard to read people's mind, and that difficulty comes with a reason. It's better not to know. That's why my policy in life is always not to know a person too well, cause once you know too much about a person, it can make or break a friendship.
Found out horrible things about a certain someone, and it changed my perceptions of the person entirely, in an awful way. Don't be mistaken, it's not exactly about the person, but nasty things the person is doing towards others. There's no way I'll see the person in the same light anymore. It's becoming daunting to even look or talk to the person.
Anyway, I think I'm gonna get one of these from innisfree. Blossom pink looks nice! Dreaming orange red looks nice too. Hmmm constantly faced with dilemmas 😩

Travelling is an exciting experience filled with uncertainties at every corner. Precisely this uncertainty that makes travelling fun. Grabbed a new travel buddy for this trip to Bangkok, and everything turned out perfecto. That is the beginning of more buddy trips. With just 2 person, it makes planning much easier, lesser people to please too. There were funny things that happened on this trip, for instance how our photo moments got us falling into the pool, and made us the laughing stock of some.
It has been long since I've been to Bangkok. As i set foot on this Southeast Asian country, I witnessed the rapid development at its optimum. Bangkok is definitely much more advanced than I last remembered. The people are very friendly, even the authorities who worked diligently round the clock to ensure the land is safe and secured. Kudos to these officers, it really made me feel safe during this trip.
Not forgetting to mention, it's my maiden experience of flying alone. I met my travel buddy in Bangkok itself, so I had to make my trip there alone, on a budget airline. Jetstar wasn't that bad. It was more my anxiety whenever it flew into the clouds and got the plane into short turbulence. There's much clouds that Monday morning, unfortunately.
Death Railway
My trip includes a step into the dark past which is gradually fading into the background as the country progresses. The railway that connects Bangkok to Myanmar, was literally constructed with the sweat, blood and tears of the POWs from WWII who toiled under the harshest conditions of nature and the cruelty of men. There was a tint bit of solemness as we navigated through the museums, then to the actual ride on the unglamorous train which fills the air with the loud passing sound as it passes. The heavy mood was soon overwhelmed with the heat from the blazing sun that hits at the surface of my skin and the dust that soon engulfed us.
To me, sightseeing is mandatory of all itineraries because it lets your mind relax from the busy shopping districts.
That's all folks for my travelog to Bangkok.
Hearty laughter
Laughter is the best medicine.
And so they say.
Personally, it does make you feel healthier when you laugh.
Look at how 山田 laughed so freely here, it's really unconstrained. The purest laughter for celebrities. So many can't do this on stage because of the heavy mask they put on, sometimes that of perfection.

Making choices
My reflection of GE2015
This election, we see all constituencies contested. Many opposition parties and independent candidates began their concerted firing at the ruling party with criticisms at policies which they deemed are unfair, inadequate or disturbing. They began the days of rallies with the intention to construct this imagery of a nation in a state of topsy turvy where everything and anything has gone absurdly wrong. How did they come up with this dystopian view of a supposedly first world nation? That's simple. In a complain society like Singapore where people tend to think of failures as something caused by others and not themselves, you can easily put together all the trivial day-to-day unhappiness of different Singaporeans into a consolidated speech to rally their support. Any rational being would not believe that life as a Singaporean is that bad as they put it. This proves a point that one simply cannot piece life problems together and make conclusion about the policies and the government. Most would know that policies are in itself an imperfect tool, because it can never benefit everyone equally. It should in its ideal state, benefit the majority and help given to those minority who are left out. In this sense, I believe the ruling party has done what it could do in its capability.
I do not believe that politicians are altruistic in running the nation and taking care of its people. There aren't that many saints to begin with. As long as one has the requisite integrity and morals to lead the country for progress and prosperity, overcome challenges faced all over the world, and leave no men behind, then i think he/she earns my vote.
The opposition are not ready by their unsound policies and unprofessionalism in their tactics. The results are indicative that the people, regardless of their unhappiness in different aspects of life, know that ultimately the ruling party is the one to propel the country towards SG100. Until the day when a strong opposition pitches a strong alternative without trivialising matters or jeopardising the health and achievements made as a nation...
Learning Life
Politics. It's complicated in every sense of the word. As long as you're alive, there's no escape from it. Oh, perhaps even on the other side, there's politics as well.
It's such a pain, but nonetheless, it makes us stronger.
I can only say, I'm still learning to deal with it (live with it, in some aspects that I can't change). We all are.
On another note, I am all excited for Grasshopper movie, featuring 2nd lead Yamada Ryosuke as Semi. I could sense his full potential being maximised in this film as opposed to the action-less Assassination Classroom Live Action Movie. Even his glare was enough to drive my sanity.
Quote of the week
"But if you knew you might not be able to see it again tomorrow, everything would suddenly become special and precious wouldn't it?" - Haruki Muramaki
I would be reminded of how the world mourned for the death of our founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. It wasn't until his death that Singaporeans realised they have lost a great leader and a master architect of the red dot.

It is a little late when I decide to start this blog, but it was also at this time when I believe that blogging will benefit me in the long run. There have been many instances where my tiny brain was so overwhelmed with thoughts and feelings that it was on the verge of explosion, regardless whether they are positively or negatively charged. Bottled feelings, as most said, aren't exactly healthy. Then I chanced upon several of my friends' (both real and virtual) blogs and realised that it could be a perfect avenue to unleash and reflect upon all these fragments of memory, emotions and thoughts.
My mystery: why do some people choose to display all their unhappiness, anger and frustration externally, and transfer them to the lovely people around. Many a times, a simple smile to the people you communicate with makes the cold world seemed much more live-able. In Singapore, it is difficult to see a smile on one's face, it is even more rare to have one to smile to you. This clearly reflects why she is ranked high in the unhappiness index. I wonder...is it really that demanding for one to give even the slightest smile or warmth to the people around. Perhaps, we are all just too obsessed with personal achievements and plagued by the underlying jealousy and competition in this 'dog-eat-dog' country.
about your site
Flavours of Life will be where I document some of those human mysteries I observe in my surroundings which most choose to ignore. It can be extremely interesting to stop, observe and reflect on them because you may be surprised by the sort of enlightenment one can gather from them. It is also here where I seek mental relaxation as it provides me with an escapism from the harsh reality. I will also use this space to immerse in my obsession for entertainment (Well, I can't quite move away from this since it is one of my main source of virtual happiness)
